Deciding to have cosmetic surgery, or any kind of elective surgery, should not be an impulsive decision, but one that is very carefully thought out. The best candidates for cosmetic surgery are individuals who are looking to have their appearance improved and enhanced, not perfected. They are physically and mentally healthy and have reasonable expectations of how cosmetic surgery will enhance their appearance. Basically, the ideal cosmetic surgery patient is someone who wants to look as good as they feel.

Cosmetic Surgery Consultation
Prior to your consultation, Dr. Rohrich suggests that you take a careful look at yourself and identify the top things that bother you about your appearance, as well as the top things you like. This will help him understand your expectations and determine whether they can realistically be achieved through cosmetic surgery. He will examine you and consider such factors as the quality of your skin tone and the contour of your body. He will explain which surgical techniques are most appropriate for you to give you the best result.
Lifestyle factors will also play a major role in cosmetic surgery. It is important to be a healthy, non-smoker and attempt to have an active lifestyle including regular physical exercise and dietary control. Patients that diet and exercise always do better long term with any type of cosmetic surgery.
For cosmetic face and neck procedures, Dr. Rohrich recommends you bring along some photographs of yourself from about 10 to 15 years ago to serve as a model to help determine which techniques can best be utilized to restore your current features to what they once were.
You should come to your cosmetic surgery consultation prepared to discuss your medical history. Dr. Rohrich may ask for information about any medical conditions, drug allergies, medical treatments you have received, previous surgeries, and medications that you currently take. It is important to give Dr. Rohrich as complete and accurate information as you can.
After your consultation a medical photographer will take photographs to be used for your medical record and surgical planning and you will meet with Dr. Rohrich’s patient coordinator to discuss the surgery fees and scheduling dates. You may also schedule an additional consultation to view computer imaging so that you can visualize the results of the surgical technique that Dr. Rohrich has specifically designed for you.
